In discussions around the care needs of the growing older adult population, it is often
assumed that family will provide at least some of the care. The assumption is that there
will be adult children in close proximity to encourage social engagement, participate
in activities, or coordinate doctor’s visits. Or, if they don't live nearby, at least they can
connect via social media and occasional visits. But what if that's not the case?
