IN
Each day we make commitments to residents, families and team members.
One of our promises is to provide a home for the next phase of our
residents’ lives. And home connotes family. In working to create that
environment, some things are within our control, but many are not. One
of those is family dynamics which, even in the best of situations, can
sometimes be challenging. Add in feelings of loss, frustration, or guilt that
may come with watching a loved one age, and it can be downright difficult.
But is there any better way to fully integrate a resident into your
community than by integrating his or her family? This issue of the
News
& Views
explores how providers do that. It takes a look at the challenges
families may be facing as a loved one needs care, some problem-solving
techniques when things get difficult, and success stories of both traditional
and non-traditional family involvement.
